Perfect 1/2 inch layers on my first try. No larger than 9-10 inch round cake will work though.
I bought this cake slicer in hopes of being able to perfect my layered cakes. It is AWESOME! I have the wired cutter where you adjust the height and work it through the cake moving it left to right. I have the adjustable blade that looks like a hand tree saw that you also work right to left while “sawing” through the cake. This cake slicer is by far easier than anything I have ever used. I made a box cake in a round 8 inch pain that is 3 inches tall. This adjustable cake slicer extends from maybe a 6 inch cake to possibly a 9 or 10 inch cake but definitely no larger than a 10 inch. It opened up so I could slide it over my cake then I “cinched” it back down. I started with a solid, long, and thin knife that went through the opening on one side to the other but starting in the middle of the bottom slot. I gently worked the knife through until I couldn’t go any further on the right or left then I worked the tip through to the solid part of the cutter or what I am calling the back. I did this two more times. On the last layer, I started with the tip in the middle of the slot and pushed it through to the back and worked my way out to the left and then reinserted the tip in the middle and worked my way to the left. This layer was very uneven as you can see in my pictures. This was the first time I used it so I am sure I will get better, but for an amateur, this is absolutely the best way to go! The first three layers are perfect ½ inch layers which will make for the perfect layer cake. I would highly recommend this tool for any baker wanting to perfect their layer cake that is like me and unable to continually cut thin, even layers throughout the cake. Although I received a discount for my review of this product, I, as many other Amazon shoppers, rely heavily on the un-biased opinions of other reviewers. This review is an un-biased, 100% accurate review of my personal experience with this product.
